Statement by the NATO Secretary General on the Montenegrin declaration of independence NATO takes note of Montenegro’s declaration of independence, which follows a referendum which was certified free and fair both by Montenegrin officials and international observers. The Alliance respects the result of that referendum, as it represents the democratic will of the Montenegrin people. |
