Book author discusses strategic implications of climate change
Canadian author and journalist Gwynne Dyer presented his book "Climate Wars" at NATO Headquarters in Brussels and signed copies of his book in the NATO Library.
"The world will lose about 10 percent of its food production with every one-degree rise in global temperature, and most of the losses will occur in tropical and sub-tropical countries. We are already committed to at least a 1.5 degree increase in average temperature. The result will be waves of climate refugees, a proliferation of failed states, and regional wars between upstream and downstream states over the remaining water. There will be plenty of work for the military in every country", Dyer said.
