New NATO Secretary General to take up office

The new Secretary General of NATO, Mr. Anders Fogh Rasmussen, will take up his duties on 1st August 2009.
His first day at NATO HQ will be on Monday 3rd August. Upon arrival he will be greeted by the Deputy Secretary General, Ambassador Claudio Bisogniero, Ambassador Per Poulsen-Hansen, the Dean of the Council and Admiral Giampaolo di Paola, Chairman of the Military Committee.
On Tuesday 4th August Mr. Rasmussen will chair his first North Atlantic Council Meeting.

Notes:
NATO photographers and cameramen will provide audio-visual products of all media events on the NATO website or via the TV/Radio unit (see contact details below).
The coverage of the Press Conference will be distributed live and on world feed and web streaming (16/9 format).
Accreditation
Journalists holding a valid permanent NATO media pass will have access as usual.
Media representatives not in possession of a valid permanent NATO media pass and wishing to cover the event are invited to request accreditation directly at the main entrance of NATO, on 3 August, starting from 7.00. They will have to present an ID and a valid national press card.
Those media representatives not having a national press card are invited to send a letter from their editor to NATO Press and Media Service, not later than 2 August, 1700 hrs (fax +32.2707.1399; email: bellanger.thomas@hq.nato.int).
Parking
Media representatives are advised that they will not be allowed to park their vehicles inside the NATO compound; they will be allowed to park on the “East” and “ West” parking areas, just outside NATO’s Main site entrance. Outside broadcasting vans will be able to park in the dedicated area on “parking H” upon request, starting from 3 August, 0700hrs.
