Visit to NATO by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina
Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina visited NATO Headquarters on 11 March and held discussions with the Secretary General and the North Atlantic Council.
The Ministers exchanged views with the North Atlantic Council on Bosnia and Herzegovina's first individual Partnership Action Plan. Ambassadors congratulated the Ministers on the progress that has taken place in many fields, including defence reform and Bosnia and Herzegovina's contribution to regional security. Ambassadors also, however, expressed concern that the political situation in the country was, in some areas, holding back reform, reform necessary to help Bosnia and Herzegovina meet its Euro-Atlantic ambitions as quickly as possible.
The Secretary General signed with Defence Minister Cikotic the Agreements formally recognising Bosnia and Herzegovina as a non-NATO ISAF contributing nation, taking account of the country's offer of personnel to support NATO's most important mission. This contribution is a welcome demonstration that Bosnia and Herzegovina is increasingly becoming a contributor to international security.
