The 40th edition of the NATO Wives Bazaar took place on 16 November at the Alliance’s Headquarters. The annual Bazaar, organized since 1968, is a charity sale held under the patronage of NATO’s Secretary General, NATO’s Deputy Secretary General, the Chairman of NATO’s Military Committee and their spouses.

The articles sold at the Bazaar represent a selection of delicacies and handicrafts from each participating country. In 2008, 34 nations were represented: 26 NATO Members and 8 Partner nations.

On 17 December, the proceeds of the Bazaar will be officially donated to designated charitable institutions. 50% will be distributed to Belgian charities and 50% to international charities.

In 2007, the Bazaar raised more than 157,000 Euros.
