North Atlantic Council visit to Afghanistan

The North Atlantic Council chaired by NATO Secretary General, Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, accompanied by the Supreme Allied Commander Europe, General James Jones and the Chairman of the Military Committee, General Ray Henault, will visit Afghanistan between 4 and 6 September 2006.
During the visit, the Council will travel to various NATO-led Provincial Reconstruction Teams and will hold meetings with President Karzai and other key members of the Afghan Government, as well as with international community representatives, including from the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan, the European Union and the G-8 chaired nations.
There will be a media opportunity with the NATO Secretary General during the course of the visit.
