Seminar in Ukraine focuses on NATO enlargement

"Security and stability in Post-Communist Europe in the context of NATO enlargement" was the theme of a regional seminar in Chernivtsi, Ukraine. It was held on 6-8 November and was organised by the "Civic Initiative Foundation" to assess illusions and realities with respect to the prospect of NATO enlargement.

Discussions focused, in particular, on the level of cooperation between the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and the likelihood of post-communist countries entering the Alliance in the near future. The role of the general public and political elite in the border regions on the issue of NATO enlargement was also explored.
