Chairman of the NATO Military Committee visits Serbia

The Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, Air Chief Marshal Sir Stuart Peach visited Serbia on 16-17 September where he met with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, the Serbian Minister of Defence, Mr Aleksandar Vulin, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Ivica Dacic, and the Chief of Defence, General Milan Mojsilovic.

During the meetings the Chairman praised the strong relationship between NATO and Serbia. He highlighted the benefits of the the Individual Partnership Action Plan and the success of the 2018 joint exercise on Disaster Relief as examples of how the Alliance can work with Serbia to continue to build trust and interoperability whilst respecting at all times Serbia’s policy of neutrality.

Discussions also focused on the security situation in the Western Balkans. Air Chief Marshal Peach stressed the importance of the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue and reinforced NATO’s commitment to stability in Kosovo through the UN-mandated KFOR peacekeeping mission.
