North Atlantic Council discusses energy security challenges
In a meeting with external experts, the North Atlantic Council today (19 March 2019) discussed global energy developments and their security implications.
The International Energy Agency’s Executive Director, Dr. Fatih Birol, the European Commission’s Director-General for Energy, Mr. Dominque Ristori, and the US State Department’s Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy Diplomacy, Mr. Kent Logsdon, discussed the shifting global energy landscape, examined the political, economic and security implications of current energy developments, and reviewed the challenges to energy security in Europe.
These informal Council meetings with energy experts help NATO Allies to keep abreast of energy developments that could affect their security. They also contribute to strengthening NATO’s ties with other institutions, such as the European Union and the IEA.
