NATO Secretary General outlines new ''Geography of Danger''
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg outlined the Alliance’s policy towards the Asia-Pacific region – including North Korea – in a speech in Tokyo on Tuesday (31 October 2017). Addressing the Japan National Press Club, he described how a shift in “the geography of danger” means that nowadays, many of “the challenges we face are global”. Acknowledging the threat to peace and security posed by North Korea, Mr. Stoltenberg called on Pyongyang to “abandon its nuclear programme once and for all”; to “suspend the development of ballistic missiles”; and to “refrain from further testing”. He also reiterated that “NATO strongly supports a peaceful, negotiated solution to the crisis on the Korean Peninsula.”
