Deepening defence education with partners
As part of cooperative security and projecting stability, NATO supports partners in sustaining institutional reform through defence education. To better address the specific needs of partners in further developing the capacity of their defence institutions through NATO’s Defence Education Enhancement Programme, the sixth Functional Clearing-House on Defence Education was convened on 15 to 17 May 2017 in Madrid, hosted by the Spanish Ministry of Defence.

In a spirit of co-ownership and mutual understanding, almost 60 participants from Allied and partner institutions discussed how to meet the current the educational requirements of 13 partners: Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mauritania, Moldova, Mongolia, Serbia, Tunisia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. The clearing house also helped to coordinate efforts by developing synergies among institutions and partners.
