NATO Secretary General calls for modernising the rule-book of European security
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has called for a modernised rule-book for European security. In an opinion-editorial published in seven European newspapers (Le Figaro, El Pais, La Repubblica, Le Soir, Die Welt, Tages-Anzeiger, and Tribune de Genève) on Thursday (26 November 2015), the Secretary General argues that today’s unpredictable security environment requires new and strengthened measures to avoid unintended military escalation or confrontation. Mr. Stoltenberg’s proposals include snap inspections for snap exercises, more transparency for military activities, and a modernised regime negotiated within the OSCE framework.
