UN Counter Terrorism Committee Chair visits NATO to discuss closer cooperation
Ambassador Raimonda Murmokaite, Lithuania’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and Chair of the Counter Terrorism Committee (CTC) of the UN Security Council visited NATO Headquarters on 13 October 2015 and met with Assistant Secretary General for Emerging Security Challenges, Ambassador Sorin Ducaru.
The Assistant Secretary General and Ambassador Murmokaite discussed possible avenues for further cooperation between NATO and the UN on counter-terrorism, most notably through tapping into the expertise of NATO’s Centres of Excellence, through NATO’s assistance to partner nations in building their defence capacities and through NATO’s support to Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security.
