Officials and opinion makers from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia visit NATO
On 7 May 2013, NATO's Political Affairs and Security Policy Division organised a visit to NATO Headquarters for a group of officials and opinion makers from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, who were visiting Brussels as part of NATO’s public diplomacy activities under the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative (ICI).
Topics discussed included NATO’s outreach to the Middle East and the Gulf region; NATO’s military cooperation in the framework of the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative (ICI); NATO’s Civil Emergency Planning, NATO’s Operation and NATO’s Armaments Cooperation.
The group met with high-ranking NATO officials, including Ambassador Stephen Evans, NATO’s Assistant Secretary General for Operations, Mr James Appathurai, Acting Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy, Ambassador Francesca Tardioli, Deputy Assistant Secretary General in NATO’s Operations Division, Mr Nicola de Santis, Head, Middle East and North Africa Countries Section in NATO’s Political Affairs and Security Policy Division, Commodore Emil Eftimov, Deputy Director Cooperation and Regional Security Division, NATO International Military Staff and Mr Patrick Touzé, Head, Policy, Plans & Partnerships Section, Defence Investment Division.
The group also held meetings with the Deputy Permanent Representative of the United States of America on the North Atlantic Council Mr Joseph Manso, and with the Permanent Representative of Turkey on the North Atlantic Council Ms Sule Öztunç.
