North Atlantic Council Ambassadors start two-day working visit to Norway
Ambassadors from the North Atlantic Council (NAC) visited the Norwegian Polar Institute in northern Norway on Monday (6 May 2013) at the start of a two-day working trip.
Monday’s meetings took place in the city of Tromsø, where ambassadors were briefed on High North issues and they had an opportunity to visit the Norwegian Coast Guard Vessel KV “Sortland”. The NATO Ambassadors were also to attend a discussion at the University of Tromsø on future security challenges and the role of NATO, hosted by Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide.
The Council was to visit the Norwegian air force base at Bodø on Tuesday (7 May) and pay a visit to the Norwegian Joint Headquarters, which is the operational command centre for the Norwegian Armed Forces.
