Chair of NATO Military Committee visits Morocco

From 28 to 30 April 2024, the Chair of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, was in Morocco, marking his third official visit to a Mediterranean Dialogue Partner in the last month. Admiral Bauer was received by the Minister-Delegate for the Administration of National Defence, Mr Abdellatif Loudiyi, and the Inspector General of the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces, Major General Mohammed Berrid. The Chair of the Military Committee met with several other high placed military leaders and briefed the Royal College of High Military Studies in Kenitra on NATO’s global approach to security and its partnerships in the southern neighbourhood.

NATO helps to strengthen Moldova’s military medical capacity

NATO has delivered military medical equipment worth 700,000 euros to the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Moldova, through the NATO-led Defence Capacity Building Package for Moldova. It was financed through contributions from Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Turkiyë, and the United Kingdom and implemented by NATO’s Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA). The delivery was marked at a ceremony organised by Moldova’s Ministry of Defence, on Thursday (25 April 2024), in Chisinau.

NATO and Bosnia and Herzegovina continue to strengthen their cooperation through defence education activities

Representatives from Bosnia and Herzegovina education and training institutions under the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Security visited NATO Headquarters on 16 and 17 April 2024. The visit was part of the annual review of activities conducted within the framework of NATO’s Defence Education Enhancement Programme (DEEP) for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

NATO Secretary General receives prestigious Atlantik-Brücke award in Berlin

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg received the Atlantik-Brücke’s Eric M. Warburg Award at a ceremony in Berlin on Thursday (25 April 2024). German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius presented the award after laudatory remarks by Dr Irina Scherbakowa, co-founder of the Nobel Peace Prize-winning “Memorial” human rights organisation.

First woman receives NATO’s highest science award

German scientist Dr rer nat Karin Stein received the Von Kármán Medal, NATO’s most prestigious science award, on Thursday (25 April 2024) for her 30-year contribution to international collaboration on science and technology at NATO. Dr Stein, who currently leads the Signatorics Department at the Fraunhofer Institute of Optronics, System Technologies and Image Exploitation in Karlsruhe, Germany, is the first woman to receive the Medal. Her career is a testament to the importance and value of women’s leadership and their role in advancing scientific research.
