Lieutenant General Anastasios D. Manolas

Lieutenant General Manolas was born in Kolindros Pierias, Macedonia, Greece in 1957. He joined the Greek Military Academy in 1976. After completion of the Academy, he graduated in 1980 as Second Lieutenant in Armor.
He served in various Armor and Special Forces units, and he attended the respective schools and courses in Greece and abroad.
He commanded several Platoons (4 years), Companies (6 years), an Armor Battalion (2 years), the XXV Armor Brigade (1 year) and the 98 ADTE (1,5 year).
He has served at the Hellenic Army General Staff (HAGS) as Branch Chief responsible for NATO Logistics and CIMIC, and at the Hellenic National Defense General Staff (HNDGS) as J3 Division Head (Operations).
He was assigned for 2 years (1999-2001) at the Joint Command South (Verona, ITALY) as J1/4 Section Chief, and for 3 years (2005-2008) at the CC Land Madrid as G1 Division Head.
From Aug 2012 to Mar 2013 he served as DCOS Ops at the HAGS.
In Mar 2013 he was placed to NATO HQ (Brussels) as Senior National Military Representative.
Lieutenant General Manolas has been awarded various distinctions, medals and commendations.
He is a War College and Defence College graduate.
Lieutenant General Manolas is married to Alexandra Giannopoulou and they have one son, Dimitrios.
