General Sverre Diesen was born in Oslo in 1949. He is a graduate of the Officer Candidate School, Cavalry (1970); Master of Science, Civil Engineering, Norwegian University of Technology and Science, Trondheim (1976); Norwegian Military Academy (1979); Norwegian Army Staff College I and II (1986-88), Staff College Camberley, UK (1990).
General Diesen was awarded the National Service Medal with three stars in 1988, the Defence Service Medal in 1995, Defence Service Medal with Laurel Branch in 2005 and Commander with Star of the Royal Norwegian Order of St. Olav in 2005.
