Colonel Krume Velkov graduated as an infantry officer from the Military Academy in Belgrade, Yugoslavia in 1985. He fulfilled his first positions within the 2nd battalion from 125 Motorized Infantry Brigade in Pec, Kosovo.

During peaceful separation of the Republic of Macedonia from Former Yugoslavia, from the beginning of 1992 he joined newly formed Armed forces as a Battalion commander in 8th infantry brigade in Veles. In 1995 he attended the Command and Staff Course at Military academy "General Mihailo Apostolski"-Skopje, and after graduation was appointed to the position of Assistant Chief of staff for operations and training in the 8th Infantry brigade. He was promoted to the rank of Major in 1996. In 1998 he took over position of Chief of staff in the 8th Infantry brigade.

In 2000, as a project officer, he was planning and participating with a staff element and mechanized platoon plus size unit from the Republic of Macedonia to participate for the first time in an international exercise outside of the national territory, in Training area Koren, Bulgaria.

Later in 2000 was early promoted to the rank of LtCol and appointed to a position of Deputy Commander of 8th infantry brigade.

In July 2001 he completed NDC Senior Course 98.1 in Rome, Italy.

From August 2001 until end of 2002 he was deployed with the 8th Infantry brigade, for which he took command in 2002, in protection of the Key infrastructure in the Republic of Macedonia during internal crisis.

After graduation from the National Defense University City, Washington D.C. in 2004, where he obtains Masters in Resourcing national strategies, he was appointed as a Chief of staff of 2nd infantry brigade, Kicevo.

After promotion to the rank of Colonel, from 2005 until 2007 he was performing duties of deputy and Chief G3/5/7 section within the General staff.

From 2007 until 2012 by the decree of the President he was appointed as a Director of the General staff.

During the period from 2012 until 2017 he was serving as a Chief of classified information department within the General staff.

In 2017 he was appointed as a State advisor for NATO & EU integration within the Ministry of defence, and leader of the group in development of the SDR 2018.

He has been married with Irena since 1985, and he and his wife have two sons Aleksandar and Igor who are Information Technology Engineers.
