Ljubisa JOKIC, Lieutenant General, was born on September the 24th, 1958 in Plav, Montenegro.
Following completion of the Air Force High School, he graduated from the Air Force Military Academy - air jets pilot program. He also graduated from the General Staff Academy in 1995 and the National Defense Academy in Belgrade 1999.
He began his career in 1981, performing different spectrum of duties as a young air jet pilot starting from the position of the flying instructor, then commander of a basic flight unit and a squadron commander post. He assumed the duty Chief of Air Traffic control at the Podgorica Airport in 1997. During the period from 1999 to 2003 he had commanded the Air Brigade and the Air Base in Podgorica.
In April 2003, he was appointed as the Head of Cabinet of the Supreme Defense Council of Serbia and Montenegro and at the same time was Secretary of the Council. His following assignment was Deputy Minister of Defense for Human Resources. General Jokic was Chief of Defense of the Armed Forces of Serbia and Montenegro, from September 2005 to June 2006.
Following the independence, he returned to Montenegro and was appointed as Montenegrin Military Representative to NATO and EU Military Committee in July 2007.
He assumed the duty of the Senior Military Adviser in Permanent Mission of Montenegro at OSCE and at the same time, Military Attaché in Austria, Czech Republic and Slovakia in 2012, followed by the post of the Senior Military Adviser to the Minister of Defense in August 2016.
As of January 13th, 2017 General Jokic has assumed the post Chief of Defense of the Armed Forces of Montenegro.
For outstanding performance as a pilot General Jokic was awarded by Gold Flight Insignia and holds Flight Instructor title as well. For overall exceptional service he has been awarded three times and extraordinary promoted to a higher rank two times.
He is fluent in English and Russian.
He is married and father of two sons.
