It is a great pleasure for me to unveil the Chicago summit logo, and a particular pleasure to do so with you, Madam Secretary.

Chicago is a city which inspires. I have seen that with my own eyes, when I was there this spring, I saw for myself its magnificent skyline and met some of its dynamic people.

Chicago is a city where great ideas are born – as well as great diplomats like you, Madam Secretary.

And Chicago is a city where many cultures come together – including the cultures of many European Allies.

Chicago is a city built upon diversity, and on determination. Those are values that underpin NATO too.

So Chicago is a fitting host for our NATO summit, as we endeavour to implement our vision from Lisbon of an Alliance ready to tackle the challenges of the 21st century.
