Ok, I think we are ready to start. We will start with the public opening remarks.

Good afternoon.

Welcome to this meeting of NATO Defence Ministers.

NATO is the most successful military Alliance in the world because we have been able to adapt. The Alliance takes a comprehensive approach to our security. Ready at all times to respond to any threat from any direction. On land, at sea, in the air and in cyberspace.

Since 2014, we have made significant progress in adapting NATO to a changing security landscape. Today, we will take decisions on the next steps in our deterrence and defence.

To ensure that we have a command structure fit for changing times. That we can reinforce our forces quickly and effectively and that our cyber defences are even more robust.
NATO’s primary purpose is to protect our almost one billion citizens from today’s global threats. And as we prepare for next year’s Summit in Brussels, we will continue to adapt our Alliance to do just that.

And with this we end the public part of this meeting, we thank the representatives of the media for being with us at the start of the meeting and we will continue in just a moment.
