(Remarks as prepared)

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at the joint press point with President Toomas Ilves of Estonia

Thank you Mr. President. It is a pleasure to be in Tallinn.

Thank you for your strong personal commitment to NATO. Let me thank Estonia for your strong contribution to the Alliance. And for the leadership you show in meeting our guideline on defence spending. I know it is not easy, but it is vital.

I am particularly happy to be here just as Estonia hosts NATO’s biggest-ever cyber defence exercise. This will help Allies and partners up to speed with this fast-moving threat.

This is a time when we face many threats from many directions. Russia’s actions have challenged the fundamental principles of Euro-Atlantic security. And I call on Russia to live up to its international obligations and commitments.

At the Wales Summit, we adopted a Readiness Action Plan. To ensure that we continue to respond swiftly to crises as they arise. And my top priority is to implement the plan in full and on time.

NATO’s core task is to protect and defend all Allies. NATO stands with Estonia. And our solidarity is our strength.
