NATO’s second seminar on the New Strategic Concept will be held at the Conference Centre in Brdo, Slovenia on Friday 13 November 2009. After the first seminar in Luxembourg focused on the fundamental security tasks of the Alliance, the discussion and reflection process will now focus on NATO's engagements in the wider world and operations.

Hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defence of Slovenia with the support of the UK's Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), the event will bring together members of the Group of Experts appointed by the Secretary General, government officials from Allied nations and from troop contributing partners, military authorities, representatives from international organisations including the UN, the EU, the OSCE, the OECD and and some other opinion leaders. The programme of this seminar will consist of a series of discussions centred on such themes as lessons of current operations, dealing with evolving threats, NATO's spectrum of engagement and comprehensive approach.

The seminar will be presided over by the Hon. Madeleine K. Albright. NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen will address the seminar with H.E. Samuel Žbogar, the Foreign Minister of Slovenia and H.E. Dr. Ljubica Jelušič, the Defence Minister of Slovenia providing, respectively, welcome and closing remarks.
