Anders Fogh Rasmussen’s last day at NATO HQ

Mr. Anders Fogh Rasmussen, the Secretary General of NATO will bid his farewell to NATO Headquarters on Friday, 26 September 2014.

He will meet with his closest collaborators and members of the International Staff, civilian and military, and will lay a wreath at the memorial for soldiers who have fallen in NATO-led operations. Before departing NATO HQ he will attend a farewell meeting of the North Atlantic Council. 

Mr. Rasmussen’s tenure as NATO Secretary General will come to an end on 30 September. On 1 October he will be succeeded by Mr. Jens Stoltenberg, former Prime Minister of Norway.

Coverage and distribution

The event will be open for media coverage. Media wishing to cover the ceremony will be allowed to take positions at the Main Entrance from 9.30 onwards.

NATO will offer audio-visual products of the various events on the NATO website.

Accreditation and access

Journalists holding a NATO 2014 media pass will have access to the event on presentation of the NATO media pass.

Media representatives without permanent NATO accreditation are invited to request accreditation directly at the main entrance of NATO HQ, on 26 September starting form 8h00. They will have to present an ID and a valid national press card (provided by a national professional body – i.e. Government, professional association, Union of journalists).

Those media representatives not having a valid press card (as listed previously) are invited to send a signed letter from their editor to NATO Press and Media Service, not later than 25 September – 18.00 (fax: +32.2.707 1399; email: press@hq.nato.int
