NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoană sent a strong message of support to Ukraine for as long as it takes, adding that a win for President Putin in Ukraine would send the wrong message to other authoritarian leaders and undermine the rules-based international order.

Mr Geoană highlighted the decisions taken at the NATO Summit in Vilnius to strengthen NATO’s deterrence and defence, including through the most robust defence plans since the Cold War and the strengthening of NATO’s presence in the east of the Alliance. He also underlined NATO’s work to accelerate innovation, through NATO’s new Defence Innovation Accelerator (DIANA) coupled with the 1 billion euro NATO Innovation Fund.

The Deputy Secretary General emphasised NATO’s efforts to combat new security threats to critical infrastructure through the establishment of a new Critical Infrastructure Coordination Cell, adding that NATO is ready to defend all Allies in all domains, land, sea, air, space and cyber.
