European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL)
to sign an agreement on cooperation between the two organisations.

From 12-23 May 2003, the Swedish Rescue Services Agency will be holding
a Partnership for Peace (PfP) course on international rescue operations
in Revinge, Sweden.

Historic meetings in Moscow |
|
On 13 May, for the first time ever, all nineteen NATO Ambassadors
joined their Russian counterpart for a meeting in Moscow of the NATO-Russia
Council (NRC), chaired by NATO Secretary General Lord Robertson. The
meeting took place almost a year after the NRC was established at
the summit meeting in Rome on 28 May 2002, opening a new page in NATO-Russia
relations.

NATO's highest military authority, the Military Committee, held one
of its three annual meetings at the level of Chiefs of Defence Staff,

the consequences of Iraq for transatlantic relations |

The NATO Parliamentary Assembly will hold its Spring Session for
the first time in the Czech Republic in Prague from 24 to 28 May
2003 at the Obecni Dum (Municipal House), Republic Square. About
300 legislators from North America and Europe are expected to participate
in the five-day session.

The last of 400,000 anti-personnel landmines were destroyed
during a ceremony in Donetsk, in the south-east of Ukraine, on

Endeavour, along the Straits of Gibraltar, on 29 May.

NATO Secretary General expresses

|
On Monday 26 May, the Secretary General of NATO, Lord Robertson
sent a personal message to Spanish Prime Minister Aznar
asking him to convey
his deepest sympathy to the families of the victims of
the plane crash which took the lives of 62 Spanish peacekeepers.
