Course on international environmental disaster operations

In cooperation with the United Nations Environmental Programme, the Swedish Rescue Services Agency (SRSA) will be running a course on international environmental disaster operations from 8 to 19 September 2003 in Sandö, Sweden.

The aim of this course is to bring professionals together from NATO and Partner countries to focus on the nature of environmental disasters, the international response system, risk assessment and the analysis of consequences, as well as accident prevention and damage reduction, planning and prevention and other related issues.

The closing date for applications is 12 June. Further course details are explained in the attachments below.

The SRSA is the central supervisory government authority for rescue services. It is responsible for disaster relief and for preparing rescue units for international tasks. It conducts these courses as part of its Individual Partnership Programme with NATO, under the Partnership for Peace programme.
