NATO Deputy Secretary General to visit Lithuania

On 08-09 February 2022, the NATO Deputy Secretary General, Mr. Mircea Geoană, will travel to Lithuania to mark the 5th anniversary of the NATO enhanced Forward Presence in the country.

On Tuesday, 08 February 2022, the NATO Deputy Secretary General will meet with the President of Lithuania, Mr. Gitanas Nausėda, the Prime Minister Ms. Ingrida Šimonytė, and with members of her government in Vilnius. He will also take part in a panel discussion organized by the think tank Eastern Europe Studies Centre (EESC) and  by the Ministry of Defence of Lithuania,  titled 'Enhanced Forward Presence Multinational Battle Groups: vital element of deterrence of the Baltic states and Poland'.

On Wednesday, 09 February 2022, Mr. Geoană will travel to the Training Regiment in Rukla, to participate in the ceremony on the 5th Anniversary of the NATO enhanced Forward Presence multinational Battle Group deployment to Lithuania. He will give a press conference, together with President Nausėda and the Chair of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer. More information about this event is available here.
