On October 25, the British warship HMS Montrose came to the aid of a German-owned ship, MV Beluga Fortune, when it was attacked by armed pirates in the Indian Ocean. The Beluga Fortune sent out a distress signal and the crew locked themselves in a safe room to avoid being taken hostage. HMS Montrose, which is part of NATO's counter-piracy mission “Operation Ocean Shield”, raced to the scene, chasing off the pirates.
