NATO Secretary General visits Afghanistan

NATO’s Secretary General, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, arrived in Afghanistan today to meet with President Karzai, General Stanley McChrystal, the Commander of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) and Ambassador Fernando Gentilini, NATO's Senior Civilian Representative, to discuss NATO's long-term commitment and to see how NATO's Operation is preparing to receive a significant increase in troops.

The Secretary General will meet with General Stanley A. McChrystal, who commands over 84,000 ISAF troops, and who will give the Secretary General a detailed brief on the troop uplift and the capacity building efforts that ISAF is focused on.
