NATO welcomes seven new members
On 2 April a flag-raising ceremony and a special meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers was held at NATO to celebrate the accession of Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia.

Foreign Ministers adopt declaration on terrorism
Following the Accession Ceremony to welcome Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia as NATO members, the Foreign Ministers and Representatives of NATO met informally at NATO Headquarters on 2 April. Ministers discussed matters of common interest and concern to the Alliance, with a view to the NATO Summit to be held in Istanbul on 28-29 June.

First meeting of NATO-Russia Council "at 27"
On 2 April 2004, Foreign Ministers of the NATO-Russia Council (NRC) met in Brussels for the first time in an enlarged format “at 27”. Ministers welcomed the participation of Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovenia and Slovakia.
