NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and Nasser Judeh, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

It is a great pleasure to be here today with Minister Judeh, and also to be able to meet with the King and the Prime Minister tomorrow. I will meet with the Prime Minister today and the King tomorrow.

I think that very much reflects the very strong partnership between Jordan and NATO. And I appreciate also that we both can develop the bilateral partnership between NATO and Jordan. But in addition, can develop the political cooperation we have within the Mediterranean Dialogue.

We are celebrating the 20th anniversary of this dialogue here in Amman today and tomorrow. And I think it is really an expression of the achievements of Jordan that we are having this meeting, this conference, and this celebration of the 20th anniversary of this dialogue in Amman.

Because Jordan is, as it has been said several times, really an island of stability in a sea of turbulence.

And we are so impressed by the achievements and by the contributions that Jordan is delivering both to stability in the region but also to the partnership with all NATO Allies.

Jordan has contributed to different operations together with other NATO Allies and we are very grateful for that.

And we are also looking into how we can develop further our cooperation with enabling our forces to work even closer together. To make them even more interoperable. And also to assist Jordan when it comes to, for instance, cyber defence. But also when it comes to different kinds of exercises. And we have agreed to develop that kind of cooperation even closer.

And I also very much appreciate that Jordan has decided to be part of the NATO Response Force. And that is important for NATO. It is important for all our Allies. But it is also, once again, a strong expression, and it confirms the strength and the capabilities of the Jordanian Armed Forces.

So it is great to be here. This is my first visit as Secretary General to the region. And my first visit to Amman as Secretary General of NATO. I have been here many times before. It is always nice. And it is particularly nice to be here in my new capacity so thank you.
