Visit of Pakistani delegation
to NATO HQ and commands

From 19 to 21 February 2007, a delegation from Pakistan visited NATO Headquarters in Brussels, Allied Command Operations in Mons and Joint Force Command in Brunssum.

The delegation was composed of officials from the Pakistani Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defence, high level officers of the Pakistani Army, and representatives from Pakistani academia and think-tanks.

Participants held discussions with senior NATO representatives on issues including the Alliance’s regional partnerships, its collaboration with other international organizations, the prospects for future NATO-Pakistan co-operation, terrorism and weapons of mass destruction, and NATO’s role in modern crisis management.

In addition, a senior representative of the Pakistani General Headquarters briefed NATO participants on the Pakistani army’s role in the global war on terrorism.

At Allied Command Operations in Mons, the delegation visited the Partnership Co-ordination Cell.

The delegation travelled to Joint Force Command Brunssum for briefings and a discussion on NATO’s International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) operation in Afghanistan.

This high-level Pakistani visit reflects the evolving NATO-Pakistan relationship.
