Major-General Robert Meille Com MND-SE
Born the 22 october 1946, Major-general Meille was admitted to l'Ecole Spéciale Militaire de St-Cyr as an Officer-Cadet. Upon graduation, he choose to serve in the Infanterie de Marine and joins the Armoured School at Saumur in October 1969 and the Infantry School at Montpellier in February 1970. In August 1970, he was posted as platoon commander to the 3rd Régiment de Parachutistes d'Infanterie de Marine at Carcassonne. He become lieutenant two month later.
In July 1972, he was designated to serve as military advisor
at the Savannaket Detachment (Airborne), as part of the French Military
Instruction Mission at Ventiane (Laos). In september 1974, he was assigned
to the 8e Régiment de Parachutiste d'Infanterie de marine at Castres
as Deputy-Commander, then as commander of a combat company. In october
1978, he served at the Régiment d'Infanterie de Marine du Pacifique
at Nouméa as Deputy-Chief Training and Organisation, Parachutist
In July 1988, he is posted to the Joint Forces Headquarters in Djibouti as J3. On July 1990, he was promoted to the rank of Colonel and took command of the 2nd Régiment d'Infanterie de Marine at Auvours. Upon completion of his command, in October 1992, he become Deputy, Operational Studies (then Instructor) of the planning team of the new Collège Interarmées de Défense in Paris (Joint War College). In June 1994, he was appointed Chief of Staff of the Corps Européen (EUROCORPS). He became Brigadier-General in September 1997.
Since 1999, he is Deputy/ at the Etat-major de Force 3 (Land Task Force HQ n°3), in Marseille.
Major-General Robert Meille has had several operational assignments. They include Ex-Yugoslavia (1992-1995), Djibouti (1991), Irak-Koweit (1991) and Somalia (1989). Major-General Meille is Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur and Officier de l'Ordre National du Mérite.
