A new entrance for Camp Butmir

 

Camp Butmir - At long last, the construction of the new main gate for Camp Butmir, Sarajevo is imminent. The Headquarters Commandant and Security Officer drew up the original concept for the gate in order to improve the traffic flow and security at the principal entrance to Headquarters SFOR.

MPs host second Multi-national K-9 Conference

 

Bratunac - The 549th Military Police Company hosted the second Multinational K-9 Conference held at the Bratunac dog-training compound July 27. Professional dog handlers from the 549th MP Co., Tuzla police department (Federation), Republika Srpska (RS) police department, Germany and Italy participated in the day's events.

Suica new forward operating base is operational

 

Suica - The Dutch contingent has taken over from their Canadian comrades three Opstinas in Multinational Division South-West. The new camp facilities of Suica are scheduled to be finished by late October, but the soldiers of base commander 2Lt. Tawfik Kamil are now manning the camp and carrying out their assigned missions operationally.

Moroccan cooking

 

Mostar - On the occasion of the third coronation anniversary of their monarch, the Moroccan contingent organised a traditional dinner party. Colonel El Houcine Benmimoun, commanding officer of the contingent, welcomed approximately 200 guests to the special occasion that offered the chance to taste the unique cooking Moroccan style.

Turkish harvest

 

Zavidovici - July 27-29, the Turkish Battalion Task Force (TU Bn TF) carried out a weapons Harvest operation in Zavidovici. The municipality's population is approximately 80 percent Bosniac. The task was co-ordinated by the Civil-Military Co-operation (CIMIC) team in Zavidovici where the TU Bn TF manages an office.

Tramontane joint MSU- FRBG exercise

 

Vrapcici - On August 7, a Multinational Special Unit - French Battle Group joint exercise took place in Vrapicici, north of Mostar in Multinational Division South East. The main intent was to practice the coordination between company commanders should a situation of unrest arise and imply the use of the MSU in support of a BG.

Camp Butmir - A stereotypical image of Psychological Operations (PSYOPS) often times conjures up figures in black clothing skulking around and hiding in the dark. Realistically however, the purpose behind PSYOPS is to help a theatre commander guide the host nation he is working in toward a goal - a goal for the common good.

Another Weapon storage site inspected

 

Semizovac - Multinational Site Control Unit is an organic element of the Multinational Division Southeast Headquarters. The unit depends directly on the divisional Chief of Staff. It is a very useful element of MND-SE as it helps to keep a safe and secure environment as depicted in the General Framework Agreement for Peace (GFAP).

Joint Active Harvest

 

Kladanj - On July 27 the next stage of the American Active Harvest was started. A Russian Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) team with the leader of the field engineer service, Russian Military Contingent (RMC) Lt. Col. Shulga, was invited to participate in the activity.

Soldier in the spotlight

 

Doboj - Corporal Deividas Slukinas is a reconnaissance soldier with delta squadron in the Lithuanian Army. Stationed at Camp Dannevrake in Doboj, this young troop has big plans for his military career. At 21 years of age Slukinas is carrying on a long held family tradition of serving in the armed forces.
