Zagreb - The mission to provide a safe and secure environment for the people of BiH got a little broader when SFOR personnel in Croatia visited children in an orphanage in Zagreb. They went bearing gifts: track suits and pajamas purchased with proceeds raised from a pantomime.

Zeljova - It took a partnership: an international organisation co-ordinating with SFOR; the Russians working with the Finish; a Republika Srpska municipality partnering with a Federation town, all coming together to assist people resettling into their pre-war homes.

Red Hawk and Black River: two exercises in one

 

Gacko - The French Battle Group carried out Exercise Red Hawk in its area of responsibility March 27 to 29. Red Hawk involved all of the Multinational Army Aviation Battalions. The former's exercise was called Black River.

Divisional Reserve deployment training

 

Novi Travnik - From Bugojno to Novi Travnik, the Dutch Battle Group trained to deploy as divisional reserve, March 5. Leopard 2 Main Battle Tanks (MBT) and Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFV) formed a convoy of about 20 vehicles and mixed with civilian traffic.

Zagreb - The SFOR Liaison to Croatia team based in Zagreb, Croatia has a small population but the international military police and the aero-medical evacuation team manage to meet their large missions in spite of their small size. Their area of responsibility is the entire nation of Croatia.

Salzburg-Srebrenica Express

 

Srebrenica - A detachment from the Hellenic Battalion drove a humanitarian convoy between Salzburg, Austria, and Bosnia and Herzegovina March 7-12. A part of the collected aid was distributed in the Srebrenica area by the organisation "Farmers helping Farmers" March 13.

Zulja - Completely destroyed during the war, Zuljia is a little village that is trying to rise from its ashes. It is a small Muslim rural community within a Muslim majority, through lack of funds the only aid they receive is from SFOR.

Dog in the spotlight

 

Tuzla - Brit A242 serves with Eagle Base's K9 unit as a patrol and explosive detection dog. He is part of a two-person team; the other half (with the leash and opposable thumbs) is Staff Sgt. Roger Goodspeed. "My main duty is to detect explosives," barked Brit (translation by Goodspeed).
