COMSFOR officially opens Operation Harvest season

 

Sarajevo - "During the past six years that SFOR has been in BiH, we have collected more than a ton of weapons. Who would have thought that six years, 75 months, later that we would still be collecting weapons," said COMSFOR during a Press Conference.

A harvest of intelligence

 

Omarska - In the area of Prijedor, the UK Battle Group conducted, during the two first weeks of March, a large harvest operation, which delivered outstanding results. Twelve 81-mm mortars, ready to be used, were found in an unoccupied building.

Ploce - Weekly, a helicopter belonging to MNAAvBn (Multi National Army Aviation Batallion) in Ploce flies over Leotar, Paric, Cucovac and Udrich Mountain, providing the necessary support so that the signallers can perform their job.

Banja Luka - Well, that would be Cpl. Mandy Swanwick, Royal Army Veterinary Corps (RAVC). Based at the Banja Luka Metal Factory, she is the advisor to MND-SW units on military working dogs, and a qualified handler of arms and explosive search dogs.

Salzburg-Srebrenica Express (Part I of II)

 

Salzburg - From March 7 to 12, a detachment from the Hellenic Battalion drove a humanitarian convoy between Salzburg, Austria, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. March 13, part of this aid was distributed in the Srebrenica area by the organisation "Farmers help Farmers".

Mostar - From Feb. 18 to March 3, a Spanish Engineer Company belonging to MND-SE Divisional Engineers carried out the difficult demolition of a rundown building. This building was located on the former confrontation line, in the centre of Mostar.

Visoko - Some armies determine the strength of their opponent on the battlefield, but in Visoko Bosnian, Italian and Portuguese soldiers played football matches, games of chess and competed in cross-country running to see who was the fittest.

Mostar Airport Fire-fighters

 

Mostar - The Airport Fire Team belonging to the Air French Detachment carried out a series of exercises in Europe Base March 19. The training consisted of three different emergency drills, in which fire fighters tried to improve their technical skills.

Soldier in the spotlight

 

One of three Liaison Officers to Croatia, Lt. Col. Peter Skriecka is the only Slovakian assigned to SLTC (SFOR Liaison to Croatia) Zagreb. He is very proud of his country, and is happy to be representing the Slovakian Army in SFOR.
