Sarajevo- Presided by COMSFOR, Lieutenant General Michael
Dodson, and organised by the German National Support Element (NSE),
the "Lighting of the Christmas Tree" ceremony took place at
Butmir Camp on Sunday 03 December.
After a few words by COMSFOR, a prayer was said by Theatre Chaplain,
Colonel Gene Fowler, US Army. This was followed by a short concert performed
by the Base Chaplain Alfred Vaupel-Rathke. He offered a trumpet version
of Haendel's composition "Daughter-Zign", as well as the Traditional
German song "Macht-Hoch-Die-Tuer".
Everyone there was invited then to a tasting of Glühwein, which
consists of warmed wine with spices and fruits.
