Russian Students Run the NATO-Russia Council For a Day
On the 27th March 2013, Moscow State Linguistic University (MSLU), with support of the NATO Information Office in Russia, hosted a role play called “Partnership of Russia and NATO in the framework of addressing contemporary challenges and threats”. Students of this prestigious university played the roles of Permanent Representatives of member states of the NATO-Russia Council, with two of them actually rotating to act as the Secretary General and Chairman of the NRC.
Opening the proceedings, Rector of MSLU, Prof. Irina Khaleeva, stressed that event followed in the footsteps of previous five role games hosted by the MSLU.
The participants were addressed from Brussels via TV link-up by the Russian Representative to NATO, Ambassador Alexander Grushko, and Anders Fogh Rasmussen, the real Secretary General and Chairman of the NRC. Both Ambassador Grushko and the Secretary General spent almost an hour answering questions from students.
