Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov visited NATO HQ on Monday 18 February for a bilateral meeting with NATO-Russia Council Chairman Anders Fogh Rasmussen. They covered a number of areas of ongoing practical cooperation and prospects for future interaction.
Cooperation on Afghanistan was a particular focus in view of an upcoming completion of the ISAF mission. Currently such key projects are underway as the Helicopter Maintenance Trust Fund and the NRC Counter Narcotics Training Project. The Trust Fund will soon begin its third training course for Afghan helicopter technicians, while the NRC Counter Narcotics Training Project kicked off its first course of 2013 earlier this month.
During the meeting the NRC agenda for 2013 was discussed.
Mr.Rasmussen and Mr. Lavrov also exchanged views on missile defence dialogue in the NRC.
