NRC Chiefs of Defence Staff Approve 2013 Work Plan
NATO-Russia Council Chiefs of Defence Staff met in Brussels on Wednesday 16th of January. Among wider discussion on continued military practical cooperation, the Chiefs of Staff approved the NRC Military Representatives' Work Plan for 2013. Currently NATO-Russia Council is working on high-profile projects through military cooperation, including Counter terrorism with the Cooperative Airspace Initiative and STANDEX, Search and Rescue at sea, Logistics, and Counter Piracy with the joint mission off the gulf of Aden. Counter Piracy has been a highly successful area of cooperation, and as NRC Chiefs of Defence Staff met in Brussels a training mission for Russian Counter Piracy operatives was taking place in Crete at the NMIOTC. 2012 saw the consolidation and expansion of successful Military Cooperation projects and the 2013 Work Plan looks to build on the continued success in this area.
