Operation Allied Force Update

On day 72 of Operation Allied Force attacks against Serb forces continued. In Kosovo allied aircraft struck 21 artillery pieces, 30 mortar positions, four tanks, 10 armoured personnel carriers, eight anti-aircraft artillery pieces and other military vehicles.

Other facilities that support Serb forces in Kosovo responsible for the ethnic cleansing were attacked, including:

Ammunition storage sites at

  • Novi Pazar
  • Boljevac
  • Kursumlija

A petroleum storage site at Sombor

A railway petroleum loading facility at Leskovac

A MUP Headquarters at Kula Milicija

An airfield at Ponikve

A training area at Cuprija

A radio relay site at Rudnik

An AM radio broadcast station at Srbobran

TV/FM broadcast stations at

  • Pirot
  • Kapaonik.

NATO flew 610 sorties, including 234 strike and 74 suppression of air defence missions. All NATO aircraft returned safely. Operations on day 73 are underway. Further details will be available at the NATO morning update at 1030.
