Operation Allied Force Update

Last night NATO forces attacked a series of logistics targets in Yugoslavia. Targets attacked included:

A surface to air missile support facility in Belgrade.

Petroleum storage facilities at:

  • Batajnica airfield fuel stores on the outskirts of Belgrade
  • Sombor
  • Smederevo

Ammunition storage depots at:

  • Vrdnik
  • Sremska Mitrovica

Poor weather significantly curtailed operations over Kosovo on Day 58 of Operation Allied Force. Some 300 sorties were flown overall, but there was very low cloud over Kosovo all day, and only 40 specific strike and 17 suppression of air defence sorties were flown.

All NATO aircraft returned safely. Operations on Day 59 of Allied Force are already underway, and the weather has significantly improved. More details will be provided at the Morning Update briefing at 1030CET.
