Brigadier General F. Macor (IT)

Brigadier General Fausto Macor was born in Udine in 1953.

He joined the Military Academy in 1974 and was commissioned as a Lieutenant of Infantry in 1976. After two years at the Officers’School in Torino, he was then assigned to the Mountain Troops.

As a First Lieutenant he served in the “Julia” Mountain Brigade and was then posted to the Compagnia Alpini
Paracadutisti, the recce mountain - airborne company of the Mountain Corps, as recce platoon commander and later as the second in command of the company. In 1987 he attended  the Staff College in Civitavecchia.

As a staff officer he was assigned to the “Orobica” Mountain Brigade HQ in Merano, in the G2 Branch.
Having successfully completed the War College he was transferred to the Mountain Troops HQ in Bolzano as G7 Branch Head.

Brigadier General Macor served within the “Taurinense” Mountain Brigade as the Commanding Officer of the “Susa” Battalion (1993-1994) and later of the 3rd Regiment (1999 – 2000). Between 1994 and 1999 he held the position of Chief of Staff of the Brigade HQ.

He was assigned to the Joint Command South HQ in Larissa (Greece) as the Director of Staff from 2001 to 2003. In 2004, back in Torino, he was assigned to the Officers’ School as the Director of the Academic Department.

In March 2006 Brigadier General Macor assumed command of “Taurinense” Brigade and in July 2007 was appointed ISAF RC West Commanding General.

Brigadier General Macor holds a Bachelor’s degree in Strategic Science at Torino University.

He has taken part in served operations abroad:
UNOMOZ in Mozambique, SFOR in BIH, AFOR in Albania, KFOR – COMMZW in Albania, EUFOR in BIH and currently in Afghanistan.

Brigadier General Macor is married to Isabella, they reside in Torino. They have two children: Giulia (17) and Paolo (13).
