Three ISAF service members killed in southern Afghanistan

KABUL, Afghanistan –Two International Security Assistance Force  service members were killed in a small arms attack during a patrol in southern Afghanistan on 19 August.

In a separate incident in the south another ISAF service member lost his life as a result of a hostile attack.

“We extend our earnest sympathies to the families and friends of the service members who lost their lives today,” said Brig. Gen. Eric Tremblay, ISAF spokesperson.

U.S. Press Officer Capt. Regina Gillis confirmed that the deceased were U.S. service members.

ISAF is a key component of the international community’s engagement in Afghanistan, assisting the Afghan authorities in providing security and stability and creating the conditions for reconstruction and development.
