ISAF service member killed in southern Afghanistan

KABUL, Afghanistan - An International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) soldier was killed as a result of an Improvised Explosive Device strike by insurgents in southern Afghanistan on 2 June.

“On behalf of ISAF, I offer our comfort and sympathy to the family of this brave service member,” said Brigadier-General Richard Blanchette, ISAF Spokesperson.  “The combined will of the nations committed to bring stability to the people of Afghanistan will not be thwarted by such a cowardly attack.”

It is ISAF policy not to release the nationality of any casualty prior to the relevant national authority doing so.
