KABUL, Afghanistan - An International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) service member died on 22 May near Tarin Kowt in Uruzgan Province, southern Afghanistan, as a result of a helicopter being forced to conduct an emergency landing. The emergency landing was not caused by insurgent action.

“We send our profound condolences to the loved ones of this brave and committed service member,” said Captain Mark Durkin Royal Navy, ISAF Spokesperson. “This tragic incident has led to the untimely death of a comrade who has sacrificed all to help bring security to the people of Afghanistan.”

It is ISAF policy not to release the nationality of any casualty prior to the relevant national authority doing so.
