ISAF service member killed in southern Afghanistan

KABUL, Afghanistan - An International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) service member was killed yesterday in a hostile incident in southern Afghanistan.

“I am saddened to announce the death of this soldier and express my deepest moral support to the bereaved family, friends, brothers and sisters of arms of this fallen soldier,” said Brigadier-General Richard Blanchette, ISAF Spokesperson. “With our continued commitment to the freeing of the Afghan people, we will demonstrate that he did not die in vain.”

It is ISAF policy not to release the nationality of any casualty prior to the relevant national authority doing so.
