ISAF soldier killed in southern Afghanistan

KABUL, Afghanistan - An International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) soldier died of wounds yesterday after an insurgent attack in southern Afghanistan.

"On behalf of the International Security Assistance Force, I offer our sympathy and comfort to the family of our fallen soldier," said Brigadier-General Richard Blanchette, ISAF Spokesperson.  "Our ISAF family is grieving, yet we strengthen our resolve to help Afghans defeat the enemies of peace and stability."

It is ISAF policy not to release the nationality of any casualty prior to the relevant national authority doing so.

Next of kin have been notified.
